JAMMU: The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mr Mubarak Gul today directed the Tourism Department to hire the services of the experts and prepare comprehensive Project Report for the overall development of Eidgah Srinagar, including provision for all basic amenities for the people. He directed for nominating a nodal officer of the Tourism Department to oversee the progress on the development project on day-to-day basis. Chairing a high-level meeting of officers convened here to review the progress of under execution works by various agencies at Eidgah, Mr. Gul directed the Planning and Development Department to keep a provision of adequate funds for the development of the area. Threadbare discussion was held on demarcation and removal of encroachments, improvement of drainage system and progress on the construction of wide drain on western side, earth filling and levelling of prayer ground, construction of new ‘Mimber’, construction of two gates, development of Eidgah Sports field as Shehr-i-Khas Stadium, development of Kashmir Art Market and Tibatian colony, construction of residential quarter for the Imam of Ali Masjid and plantation of whole Eidgah , Sports and Park ground. Mr. Gul directed Housing, Revenue, R&B, JKPCC, Floriculture, Tourism, SMC and Wakaf Board authorities to gear up their field functionaries and speed up the pace of work and ensure judicious use of funds. The Speaker directed the Revenue Department to depute a special team of officers for demarcation of the area at an earliest. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Planning and Development Mr. B. R. Sharma, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. B. B. Vyas, Commissioner Secretary PWD Mrs. Tanveer Jahan, Commissioner Secretary PHE, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner Secretary Tourism Mr. Atul Duloo, Commissioner Secretary Revenue Mr. B. A. Runyal, Vice Chairman Wakaf Board Mr. Qadri, Secretary Assembly Mr. M. Ramzan, Chief Engineer, R&B Kashmir, Managing Director Housing Board, Managing Director JKPCC and other senior concerned officers of various departments besides Assembly Secretariat.
