| Rs. 1006 cr sanctioned under SSA, Rs. 657 cr released in last 2 years: Dy CM | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 30 : The Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today informed the House that against the sanctioned amount of Rs. 1006.05 crore under Sarva Shikshya Abhyan (SSA) for construction of schools buildings and other related infrastructure in the State Rs. 657.86 crore have been released during last two years. Replying to a question by Yashpaul Kundal, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Rs. 25.91 crore have been released for construction of school buildings in Udhampur and Samba district during the period under SSA. He said the reason for lesser expenditure in execution of school infrastructure was due to identification of land, reconstitution of VEC Committees and non-availability of land for construction of maximum schools. The Deputy Chief Minister said that 99 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) were sanctioned by the Centre, out of which 95 schools are operational. He said that construction works on 12 KGBV have been completed and work on 78 schools is progress. He said Government would take all necessary steps to ensure completion of all KGBVs in the State, adding that such schools are being established only in educationally backward areas and Jammu and Samba districts was not covered under this purview. Balwant Singh Mankotia, G. M Saroori, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, Qamar Ali Akhoon, Mohammad Sharief Niaz, Harshdev Singh, Jagdish Raj Spolia, Krishan Chander Bhagat and Javed Ahmed Dar raised supplementaries and demanded early completion of KGBV buildings, upgradation of educational institutions besides construction of schools buildings under SSA in their Constituencies. |
