JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma today informed the Legislative Assembly that the Government has taken steps to mitigate the water supply problems in Poonch Constituency after the breakdown of power on January 17 and 18 2013.
Replying to a calling attention notice of Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Jan in Legislative Assembly, the Minister said the water supply of Poonch town is based on lifting of water from different sources and is 100% based on power supply. However, in order to meet out the shortfall four DG sets have been pressed into service at vital stations to supplement the shortfall. The District Hospital Poonch at present is provided water supply on daily basis, whereas the other parts of the town are being ensured water supply on alternate days, he added.
As regard the water supply to the rural areas falling under Poonch (Haveli) Constituency, gravity scheme are running normally and 15. operational lift schemes based on 25 pumping stations. |
