JAMMU, Apr 2 : A delegation of the All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association, called on Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today and presented to him a Memorandum of their demands. The 10-member delegation led by Mr. Inderjeet Khajuria, President of the Association, complimented the Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, for taking various initiatives to bring progressive improvements in the facilities for the Yatris visiting the Shri Amarnathji and Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji Shrines, providing insurance cover of rupees one lakh to all the duly registered Shri Amarnathji pilgrims and making it obligatory for every Yatri to Amarnathji to secure a Health Certificate before applying for issue of Yatra Permit. The delegation presented a cheque of rupees one lakh to the Governor as a token contribution of the Association towards providing support to the needy pilgrims. The demands presented by the delegation included, interalia, augmenting facilities for Shri Amarnathji Yatris at Bhagwati Nagar and enroute from Lakhanpur to Banihal and enhancing quota of helicopter bookings to the Association for Shri Amarnathji Yatra. Other demands projected by the delegation included developing Jammu as a tourist destination, taking measures for development and beautification of entire Tawi belt from Bhagwati Nagar to Nagrota from tourism point of view, widening of Jammu-Suchetgarh road and promoting border tourism, speedy implementation of Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex project and installation of a cable car between Mubarak Mandi and Bahu Fort and Mahamaya hill top. The Governor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that the issues raised by them would be taken up with the concerned authorities. Mr. Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor, was present on the occasion. The delegation comprised Mr. Ajay Gupta, Senior Vice President of the Association, Mr. H. S. Manhas, Vice President, Mr. Pawan Gupta, General Secretary, Mr. Baldev Raj, Treasurer, Mr. Vikram Singh and Mr. Sunil Suri, Secretaries, Mr. Ashiq Hussain Khan, President, Hotels Association, Talab Khati-kan, Mr. Kuldeep Wahi, President, JPVM and Mr. M. L. Sharma, Member. |
