| Private Member’s Resolution | | Hydro training Institute to come up at Kangan jointly by SPDC, NHPC: Mir | | JAMMU: To fill the shortfall of skilled human resource in the State, the Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir today informed the House that Hydro Training Institute (HTI) is being set up jointly by JKSPDC and NHPC in Kangan to train the youth of the State. Minister was replying to a Private Members Resolution by Mr. Mohammad Sharief Niaz in the House today. He said that for the said institution the land has been earmarked and development of curriculum is under way in this regard and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is being signed shortly. He said 80% of the intake capacity of the institute is reserved for the J&K youth. Mr. Mir further said that JKSPDC has adopted five ITI’s of Kangan, Bhaleesa, Dharmari, Kalakote and Basohli besides NHPC has also adopted ITI’s of Leh, Kargil, Uri, Ramban and Reasi to provide training to the educated youth as per their demand in their projects. He said PGCIL has been requested to State Government to establish two training institutions one each in Jammu and Srinagar. The Minister said that Technical Education Department is also mulling to set up ITI’s and skilled training centres at block level to provide skilled human resource in different trades particularly in the trades where their services can be utilized in the upcoming power, road and railway projects.
