| 1764 posts of Docs created for 2 SSHs : Taj | | | Jammu: Replying to a question by Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Minister for Medical Education Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din on behalf of the Health Minister informed the House that 56,716 cancer patients have been registered with Oncology departments of Government Medical College, Jammu/Srinagar and SKIMS, Soura. He said that no formal assessment report by the Medical Science expert in the matter is available in the state, adding that as per rough data collected from department of Radiation Oncology of GMCs and SKIMS, the incidence of cancer is on rise. The Minister said that Government Medical Colleges Jammu/Srinagar and SKIMS Soura have separate Regional Care Centre having learned faculty. The faculty are involved in public awareness campaigns through audio-visual media besides are regularly contributing to press regarding prevention and early detection of cancer. The faculty organizes such campaigns with Department of Community Medicine, NGOs and other educational institutions in this direction. The Minister while replying to a clubbed question by Mr. Ajat Shatru Singh and Mr. Dharambir Singh informed the House that it is not a fact that due to increase in population, the two hospitals viz SMHS Hospital Srinagar and SMGS Hospital Jammu are not catering to the needs of the people of two provinces. The Minister said to cope-up with the increasing patient load in these two Hospitals, the facilities have been strengthened and upgraded by way of providing additional infrastructure and latest machinery/equipment. He said two Super Specialty Hospitals (SSHs) one each at Jammu and Srinagar are coming up under PMSSY. The Minister said that there is no proposal to open Super Specialty Hospitals at District levels. He said at District level, the healthcare facilities are being provided in the District Hospitals, which are being strengthened/upgraded by providing additional infrastructure and latest machinery/equipment’s, which will reduce the patient rush to the two cities. Mr. Taj said that 819 posts of doctors have been created for Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu including 70 posts of Specialists. Similarly, 945 posts stand created for Super Specialty Hospital, Srinagar (Institute of Traumatology) which includes 100 posts of Specialists. These posts stands referred to recruiting agencies. He said under SRO 384, both the Principals have been authorized to engage staff on academic arrangement basis. Besides, selection list of 16 posts of Specialists and 13 posts of Specialists for Super Specialty Hospital Jammu/Srinagar have been received by the Department. Mr. Devinder Singh Rana, Mr. Khalid Najeeb Sahorawordi, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Mr. G. N. Monga and Mr. Muzaffar Ahmad Paray raised supplementary. |
