| Youth detained for carrying air gun near RBI building | | | MUMBAI: The city police detained a 27-year-old man for carrying an air gun near the RBI building in Mumbai's Fort area on Tuesday afternoon. Police identified the suspect as Padma Girirao Shekhar, originally from Kerala. Police said the incident took place at around 4pm. There were contradictory versions over Shekhar's detention. While initial reports suggested that he tried to enter the building and fired one round in the air after he was prohibited from entering, second theory is that he was hunting for birds near the RBI building.
Shekhar was overpowered by the police and the RBI security staff and was pushed into a police van before sending him to MRA marg police station.
Sleuths from the city crime branch, state ATS and other agencies also arrived to the police station and were busy interrogating Shekhar. No FIR has been registered yet. |
