JAMMU: A deputation of the Bahujan Samaj Party (J&K), called on Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today and presented to him a Memorandum of their demands. The demands presented by the 7-member deputation which was led by Mr. Tulsi Dass Langeh, State President of the Party, included, interalia, setting up of more Yatra Slip Counters at Katra, installation of Passenger Ropeway from Bhawan to Bhairon Temple and quota for senior citizens in helicopter tickets for undertaking Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji and Shri Amarnathji Yatra. Other demands projected by the deputation included providing compensation to the farmers on enhanced rates whose lands have been acquired for 4-laning of the National Highway, particularly between Nagrota and Tikri; regulation of fee structure of private educational institutions; implementation in totality of the Mandal Commission recommendations in the State and reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other backward classes in the appointments made under Rehbar-e-Taleem, SSA, NRHM. The Governor gave a patient hearing to the deputationists, which comprised Mr. R. L. Chargotra, State Vice President of the Party, Mr. Rakesh Wazir and Mr. Pawan Gupta, State General Secretaries, Mr. Mohinder Kashyap, State Secretary, Mr. Rattan Kumar Bhagat, Treasurer and Mr. Charan Dass, Member State Executive Committee. |
