Sham inaugurates augmented WSS, Jayanti Sunail

JAMMU, Apr 5: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr Sham Lal Sharma on Friday inaugurated upgradation work on Jayanti Sunail Water Supply Scheme at Changal, Akhnoor
Addressing a large public gathering, the Minister said with this augmentation of the water supply scheme, 1075 souls of Kamyar Mohalla, Changal Mohalla and Sunail (Partially) would be benefited.
Sharma said that the Central and State governments have sanctioned a number of PHE schemes to provide safe drinking water to every citizen of the State particularly of remote areas and those which have not been yet covered.
The Minister said that safe drinking water is not only helpful in arresting unnatural deaths due to water born diseases but also ensures a healthy life. He said that presently 65 WSSs are under execution in this area.
Sharma said that the Coalition government is fully committed to provide safe drinking water facilities to every nook and corner of the State particularly uncovered parts.
Sharma, while stressing upon officers to work with more dedication and honesty, also sought cooperation from the locals in proper maintenance of water supply facilities. He said though the capacity of the said sump tank is 10,000 gallons water and presently it is discharging 4,000 gallons, which is sufficient to cater to water requirements in the area. He emphasized the people for judicious use of water. He also directed the concerned agencies for making efforts for preserving the traditional water resources and revival of the old ponds to further enhance water supply services in the state. He also stressed upon the need of constructing more and more Chak Dams.
Responding to the demands of Sarpanchs and Panchs of the concerned areas, the Minister assured that their genuine demands would be looked into and directed the concerned officers to redress the grievances of the locals. He said the government has already taken a number of steps for up gradation of schools, adequate power supply, road connectivity and best medicare in the.
Meanwhile, the Minister appealed the people for providing education to their children especially female wards and asked them to empower women which will not only make woman confident but also help in making the state and society prospers.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer, PHE, SDM, Akhnoor, Engineers of mechanical and hydraulic departments and other senior sectoral officers of Akhnoor.
On the occasion, Sarpanchs and Panchs also addressed the people.
