Construction status of new Polytechnic colleges, ITIs reviewed

JAMMU, Apr 7: To review the construction status and funding for new polytechnic colleges and ITIs which are in various stages of completion across the State, Minister for R&B Mr Abdul Majid Wani and Minister of State for Technical Education, Mr Vikar Rasool held a high level Joint meeting of officials from R&B, JKPCC and Technical education departments here this Sunday morning.
Detailed discussions were held to ascertain the quantum of work already done, status of funds released and expenditure involved, removal and clearance of bottlenecks and impediments coming in way of the construction work at several places.. District wise physical and financial progress was also reviewed during the meeting.
The Ministers underscored the need for timely completion of these buildings and assured full support to the executing agencies towards the endeavor.
Minister for R&B on the occasion directed R&B and JKPCC to ensure timely completion of these buildings and allied infrastructure so that they can be handed over at an earliest. He said Government endeavors to promote skill development in the State to enhance the employability of youth. For this purpose, he said it must be our priority to complete the work well within the stipulated time frame so that students and youth get benefitted.
It was also decided in the meeting that some of the polytechnic college buildings and ITIs will be handed over to JKPCC by R&B department and buildings in the final phase of construction be completed by August this year for handing over.
Mr Vikar Rasool on the occasion highlighted the need for early completion of these buildings saying that with the establishment of this infrastructure, a large number of youth will be able to receive training in these institutions in different modern skills and obtain diplomas in several trades having good market demand, adding that it is an effective step forward under the skill development mission of the government. He said Government is also contemplating to enhance the intake capacity of Polytechnic Colleges to train local youth in different disciplines. He assured the executing agencies full cooperation by his Ministry to facilitate the early completion of these institutions.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary R&B Mrs Tanveer Jehan, Commissioner Secretary, Technical Education, Shaleen Kabra, Director, Technical Education, Chief Engineer, R&B, Jammu, Chief Engineer, R&B, Kashmir, Managing Director, JKPCC and other senior officials.
