| Ramzan reviews stock supply position of ration | | | JAMMU: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and Transport, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan today directed for setting up of Vigilance Cells and Flying Squads at Kashmir and Jammu Directorates to bring more transparency in Public Distribution System in the state. The decision to this effect was taken at a high level meeting convened to review the supply position of ration in the state, here this morning. The Minister directed both the directors to constitute Vigilance Wings and Flying Squads with the involvement of dedicated and honest officers. He directed that both the wings should start the working within a week’s time. Minister of state for Technical Education, Information and CA&PD, Mr Vikar Rasool was also present in the meeting. With regard to fake ration cards, the Ministers directed for initiating a thorough scrutiny in both the provinces and announced that TSOs who would detect maximum number of such ration cards would be given incentive promotion. He directed them to activate all the TSOs for thorough probe so that genuine ration card holders get their full quota . Mr Ramzan asked the director CA&PD Jammu to ensure that all the genuine ration card holders of Jammu get full quota (35 Kg) of ration every month. He said that there was a need to further streamline the distribution system in Jammu, particularly and stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure improvement within one month. The Minister asked the Director CA&PD, Kashmir to ensure that each ration card holder get 5kg Atta. He also directed for supplying for 5kg packing of Atta at Kashmir and 10Kg packing in Jammu adding that the mill owners shall be intimated immediately about this. The Minister also directed for getting only 10kg, 15Kg and 35 Kg packing or rice from the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and said that it would help in plugging the pilferage. The Minister directed to secretary CA&PD to frame a blue print of Food policy immediately by way of involving all the stakeholders. He also directed to revisit the proposal of Rehbar-e Khurak , besides framing of a proposal for the expansion of the department. He further directed for rationalization of posting of Tehsil Supply Officers (TSOs) keeping in view the topography of the area. He said it would help in equal distribution of work. With regard to End to End Computerization, the Minister was informed that work on the project was in progress and would be completed within the targeted period. Secretary CA&PD, Mohammad Abass, Director CA&PD Kashmir, Mr Mushtaq Ahmad, Director CA&PD, Jammu, Mr G.S Chib and other senior officers were present in the meeting. |
