| Dr. Veeri hails development of Khiram shrine under pilgrim tourism | | | JAMMU: Member Legislative Council, Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri has hailed the Centre and State Governments’ initiatives for sanctioning four new tourism projects worth Rs.16.42 crore in Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement issued here today, Dr. Veeri said that development of pilgrim site Hazaratbal, Khiram Shrine at Bijbehara was a long pending demand of the people which has been fulfilled. He hoped that the initiative would prove beneficial to give fillip to the tourist activities in the area. Dr. Veeri expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah for taking personal interest in ensuring all-round development of the State, particularly of district Anantnag. He said and added that innovative initiatives taken by the Government under his leadership during the last over four years have revitalized the developmental scenario under core sectors in the State. He also appreciated the strenuous efforts of Tourism Minister, Mr. G. A. Mir for promotion of tourism activities in the State, adding that launching of tourism promotion campaign in and outside the country by the Government has attracted substantial number of tourists to visit the State and to see the natural beauty. He said the efforts would be stepped up to explore the untapped potential of erstwhile Anantnag district including Bijbehara, said Dr. Veeri. |
