SAMBA: A meeting of District Officers was held under the Chairmanship of Mubarak Singh, District Development Commissioner, Samba to ensure implementation of the directions passed by the Supreme Court regarding monitoring and supervising incidents of eve –teasing in precincts of bus stands and stops, railway stations, cinema theatres shopping malls, parks, public service vehicles, places of worships, educational institutions etc Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that eve teasing is social problem and there is urgent need to take suitable measures to check this problem. The directions passed by the Supreme Court and as conveyed by the General Administration Department vide circular no. 08 – GAD of 2013 were discussed in detail and the instructions were conceded to the officers concerned for their effective accomplishment such as to depute plain clothed female police officers in the precincts of bus stands and stops, railway stations, metro stations, cinema theatres, shopping malls, parks, beaches, public service vehicles, places of worship etc. so as to monitor and supervise incidents of eve-teasing. Installation of CCTV in strategic positions which itself would be a deterrent and if detected, the offender could be caught Persons in-charge of the educational institutions, places of worship, cinema theatres, railway stations, bus-stands have to take steps as they deem fit to prevent eve-teasing, within their precincts and, on a complaint being made, they must pass on the information to the nearest police station or the WOMEN'S HELPLINE. He instructed the police officer sturdily for patrolling particularly in precincts of educational institutions parks,, etc and advised other officers to take adequate steps to manage this predicament. Among others meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Bikram Jamwal, CPO Sant Ram, Principal Degree College Samba, Principal Polytechnic College Samba, Deputy Superintendent of Police Samba, Chief Education Officer Samba, Executive Officers, MC Samba/ Vijaypur/ Ramgarh/ Bari-Brahmana. Earlier, the DDC also chaired a meeting of officers to review the arrangements for the celebrations of the Baisakhi Mela at Tirath-sthan Harimandir (Namandar) to ensure smooth celebration of the event. |
