| Peerzada visits Hajj House takes stock of facilities being provided to the aspirants of Hajj-2013 | | | SRINAGAR: In connection with Hajj-2013, Minister for Hajj, Auqaf and Floriculture, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed today visited Hajj House Bemina and took stock of various facilities and services being extended for the intending Hajj pilgrims. The Minister inspected all the compartments of Hajj House including Reception counter, Foreign Exchange counter, Customs Service Counter and Emigration Centre established for the convenience of pilgrims. Peerzada Sayeed exhorted upon the Hajj House authorities to make all necessary arrangements for Hajj-2013 and directed for providing all services and compulsory travel documents to the pilgrims well in time, so that they do not face any inconvenience. The Minister also inspected the residential complex used for the night stay of pilgrims besides 50 bedded hall, separate lodging for ladies and gents, dining hall and a large prayer hall where more than 2000 people can offer prayer at a time. He directed for making residential complex lift functional before the commencement of Hajj -2013 besides other repairs and maintenances of Hajj House. He also said that issues regarding construction of health centre in Hajj House will be looked into and directed the concerned executing agency to expedite the construction work. Peerzada Sayeed directed the authorities to create avenues for the revenue generation. The Minister said that matter with regard to operation of direct flights from Srinagar Embarkation point has already been taken up with the Ministry of Civil Aviation GOI and are hopeful for direct flight services this year also. Peerzada also said that the issue regarding increase of Hajj quota for J&K has been taken up with the Central Hajj Committee and hoped that additional quota shall be provided so that more aspirants can perform Hajj. The Minister said that State Hajj Committee has increased insurance cover of pilgrims from 2 lakhs to 3 lakhs from this year apart from Central Hajj Committee which has also been raised on same pattern. The Minister was informed that till date 21693 applications for Hajj-2013 have been received against the total allotted quota of 5604 for J&K. It was given out that 1991intending Hajj pilgrims who have attained the age of 70 shall be allowed to perform Hajj besides 2512 intending Hajj pilgrims who have applied consecutively four times shall also be allowed to perform Hajj this year and draw will be held for the rest of 1101 seats. The Minister was apprised that Hajj House has developed a website for the convenience of people which shall be activated soon so that pilgrims are able to perform correspondence and get all documents at their doorsteps. The Minister said that State Hajj Committee meeting shall be held soon and suggestions would be sought for further improvement and upgradation of Hajj House. On the occasion a detailed Power Point presentation was made about the guidelines for the pilgrims so that they perform Hajj with ease and do not face any difficulty. Among other, executive officer Hajj House and concerned officers were also present. |
