Would raise SMS ban issue during internal security conference: Omar
5/23/2013 11:33:42 PM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, May 23: Stating that he would raise the issue of ban on prepaid SMSes during internal security conference meeting, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday said he see a ray of hope in Nawaz Sharif’s victory during Pakistan elections.
“I can see a ray of hope from Nawaz government in Pakistan. Nawaz Sherief has been pushing for settlement of Kashmir issue. I hope that both the leaders from two countries will strengthen the hands of friendship,” Omar said Abdullah while speaking to media persons at the sidelines of the function of General Post Office here.
“Omar-Umar accord is more questions to Mirwaiz than to me. I’m part of UPA government and alliance with Congress. There had been relationship between me and his ancestors in past” he said while replying to a query.
Omar said the UPA government at the Centre should not be linked with the IPL spot fixing scandal as it had nothing to do with it.
Responding to a question about involvement of UPA members in the spot-fixing scandal, Omar suggested that the ruling alliance at the Centre was unnecessarily linked to every wrong that takes place in the country.
“What are you talking about? Wherever you see any wrongdoing, you bring the UPA into it,” he said. “UPA government cannot be held responsible for every wrong. I would raise the issue on pre paid mobile Short Message Service (SMS) in the internal security conference.”
“There is no fault of UPA government in IPL scam. We can hold it responsible for other things. It is players who had received the bribe for match mixing and we cannot hold it responsible for it.
People gambled on it,” Omar, whose National Conference is part of the UPA, said.
