| People’s cooperation vital for accelerating development process: Bhalla | | | JAMMU, May 26 : Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Mr. Raman Bhalla called upon the people to cooperate with the executing agencies for timely and quality completion of development works, adding that people’s collaboration is imperative for creation of a strong edifice of basic amenities.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with people during a Public Grievances Redressal Camp held at Nanak Nagar, Sector-6, here today. Mr. Bhalla asked the officers of R&B, PHE, JMC and PDD present on the occasion to complete all projects of their respective departments within prescribed time frame so that the inhabitants of the locality could avail the benefits of better facilities without any delay. The Minister said Government has prepared a detailed project report costing Rs 5 crore for face lifting of all the open spaces in Nanak Nagar, Preet Nagar, Sanjay Nagar and Rani Talab in Digiana available on embankments of nallah and Ranbir Canal by constructing walkway and recreational parks.
Taking serious note of seepage of drinking water supply pipes at Preet Nagar, Mr. Bhalla asked the engineers to immediately take measures to stop the leakages that cause damage to the road. He asked the PHE senior functionaries to personally visit Nanak Nagar Sector-6 and Preet Nagar localities and redress drinking water scarcity problem of the inhabitants. He said Government is committed to provide adequate drinking water and uninterrupted power supply to the people of Jammu region during summer. He called upon the people to use drinking water and power judiciously and avoid power theft. He urged them to help PDD in identifying those who misuse power by hooking so that they can be punished. He said Government has constituted a team of senior PDD functionaries to conduct surprise checks to nab power thieves .
The Minister said that the coalition Government has taken various exemplary initiatives to revolutionize the developmental scenario in the State, adding that focus is being laid on to improve basic amenities like augmentation of water and power supply besides provision of better healthcare, road connectivity and quality education to the children.
Mr. Bhalla said that the Union Government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has been providing liberal funding to the State for accelerating developmental and economic activities in every corner of the State.
On the occasion, the Minister directed the engineers to use quality material and complete the upgradation work of lanes and drains of Sector -6 and its adjoining areas within stipulated time frame.
The people of the area apprised the Minister about their left out demands and sought an immediate redressal to the same. Most of the problems of the people were solved by the Minister on-the-spot and remaining were referred to the concerned departments for early redressal.
The Minister called upon the people to protect public properties in their respective areas, adding that the infrastructure being created by the Government was meant for the convenience of the general public. He said the Government has launched several prestigious projects across the state to provide all basic utilities to the people at their doorsteps.
