| Sports infrastructure being expanded to rural areas, Bandipore to have Sports Academy: Taj | | | BANDIPORE : Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi ud Din has said that the Government has embarked on a plan to expand sports infrastructure in the State and for this purpose the Central Government has also granted a package to J&K state. Addressing a largely attended public meeting after attending the concluding ceremony of a football tournament in the town, the Minister said strengthening of sports infrastructure in the State has been flagged as priority and efforts are on to cover rural areas to benefit more and more youth. Mr. Taj said Government intends to raise and further strengthen sports infrastructure at district levels to facilitate more and more sports interactions. He said every block would be provided with an indoor stadium and every panchayat would have a playfield. Elsewhere, he said, wherever land is available football and hockey grounds would be raised. The Minister announced that a Sports Academy would be set up at Bandipora to train and coach budding players. He said the academy would not only train the local youth in sports but also provide them with opportunities to compete at state and national levels. Mr. Taj said Government has prepared a comprehensive plan of strengthening sports infrastructure in the State under which all the completed stadia would be provided sports kits and equipment. Besides, he said the coaching of players would be further improved. He said Government plans to extend sports activities to all the Districts so that more and more youth join them. He said sports infrastructure in the State is being given a re look and more facilities are being added to the already existing sports infrastructure. |
