REASI, June 1 : District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today ordered strict enforcement of ban on the use of polythene in the district In this regard, the DDC constituted two teams to keep a check on the menace in Reasi and Katra towns by conducting regular market choking. He called for strict imposition of ban on the use of polythene and action against violators.
The team constituted for Reasi town comprises, Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Reasi, State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) , District Officer and the local SHO, while the team of officers for Katra, include officials from Revenue, MC, police, Shrine Board & Katra Development Authority The Divisional Forest Officer Reasi & Mahore have been directed to take stringent measures to check the use of the plastic material in forest and forest fringe areas. The DDC further directed Assistant Director, employment and Chief Executive Officer District Urban Development Authority to encourage entrepreneurs to develop local alternative for polythene bags. He said that the interested entrepreneurs would be provided support from the banks in addition to incentives available under various self employment schemes. |
