Gurezi reviews post flood situation in Bandipora
Rs.38.61 cr for 8 irrigation projects proposed under 13th TAC

SRINAGAR: Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Nazir Ahmad Gurezi has directed the Revenue authorities to depute a team of officers to flood affected areas in Bandipora district to make on-spot assessment of the losses. He has issued instructions for furnishing the detailed report to the Government within a fortnight so that relief process could be initiated. He directed the Director Agriculture, Chief Engineers of PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control to depute their separate teams to the affected areas to assess the losses/damages caused due to recent floods to the Government and private assets in the district.
The Minister issued these directions to the concerned quarters while chairing a high level meeting of officers which was convened to review the post flood scenario in the Bandipora district, held here today. The meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner Revenue, Dr. Arun Kumar, Commissioner/Secretary Agriculture Production Department Dr. Asgar Samoon, Commissioner Secretary PWD Mrs. Tanveer Jehan, Secretary, Revenue Mr. Vinod Koul, Director Agriculture Kashmir, Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Chief Engineer PHE Kashmir Mr. A.M. Lankar, Chief Engineer Irrigation Mr. Javed Jaffer and other senior officers and engineers of the concerned departments.
Earlier, complete appraisal of overall drinking water scenario and on-going and new projects under PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control in Ganderbal district was taken in the meeting. It was informed in the meeting that the detailed project reports of 8 projects including Lar Canal, Dab Canal, Padshahi Canal, Maryab Canal, Sheerpathri Canal, Kondbal, Shadgund and Kachnambal at an estimated cost of Rs 38.61 crore have been proposed under 13th TAC. It was also informed that the de-silting work of Ari canal was also undertaken and completed during previous fiscal.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister directed the officers to gear up the field functionaries and complete all on going developmental works in a stipulated time frame.
He directed the concerned to prepare a comprehensive report for the development and construction of protection bund on both sides of Gratibal canal within a week’s time and submit the same to the concerned quarter for necessary approval.
