Taj flags off Anti-Tobacco march

SRINAGAR: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi ud Din this morning flagged off an anti-tobacco march organised by an NGO, Voluntary Health Association of India.
Addressing the participants of the march, the Minister exhorted upon them to spread the message of ill effects of smoking within their own circles of influence. He asked them to dissuade their friends and acquaints from smoking and highlight the dangers of smoking. The Minister said tobacco consumption is the cause of many types of cancers and research has shown that a predominant majority of oral and lung cancer patients has a smoking background.
Mr. Taj said though the Government has already banned smoking at public places, it is the duty of an informed citizenry including youth and students to ensure that the ban is observed on the ground.
Later, the participants of the march went through Boulevard carrying play cards depicting ill effects of smoking and tobacco.
