| Govt mulls cable car, helicopter services at Shiv Khori Shrine | | | Early Times Report
REASI, June 6 : The state government is contemplating to build Cable Car at the Shiv Khori to attract pilgrims and tourists to the Cave Shrine in the area besides introducing helicopter service for the convenience of the visiting devotees. This information was given at a review meeting held at Ransoo, the base camp of Shri Shiv Khori cave, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary. The meeting also reviewed the pace of development works taken up enroute Shiv Khori Shrine and Ransoo area. VC Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB), Rajinder Singh Tara, who is also Addl DC Reasi, Executive Officer SSKSB, Dr. Manmeet Motan, Tehsildar, R.K Anand, Vinakshi Koul, AD tourism, Nisas Khan XEN PHE, Sanjeev Rather XEN PDD, Suhail Ahmad, BDO Pouni, Jagdev Slathia DySP (hqr) and other senior officers were present in the meeting. The DDC discussed various issues pertaining to development of Shiv Khori Shrine which mainly included master plan of village Ransoo, construction of helipad and allied infrastructure along with approach road, construction of rope way, construction of bus stand and taxi stand, creation of parking lots and allied services for the pilgrims of the shrine. The meeting was informed that the work on the helipad would be completed by ending December and the helicopter services are likely to be started from January 2014. Besides, the cable car project was also being taken up for which the process has already been started. The DDC stressed on expediting the work on approach road and instructed the BDO to utilize the money collected from entry tax in works like sanitation & development of community toilets. He also asked the PHE department to provide additional water points and plastic tanks to make available adequate drinking water at the base camp and enroute the Shrine. The PHE department informed that the work on a water supply scheme 'lift cum gravity scheme' is in full swing in the area which will cater to the needs of people of Ransoo and adjoining villages. Regarding the issue of ban on sale and purchase of liquor in Ransoo, the DDC instructed the DySp (hqr) to submit a detailed report in this matter. The VC said all measures are being taken to streamline basic services and other development works enroute and at the shrine in view of increasing number of pilgrims visiting the shrine. He informed that about 5000 pilgrims are visiting the shrine daily at present adding that some of the issues like widening of road, opening of full fledged first aid centre and pony stand are being considered on priority. He said a meeting of SSKSB would be convened soon to take up different issues pertaining to development of the shrine. The DDC along with VC and team of officers also visited the Holy Cave and instructed for installation of fire extinguishers at the cave. He also inspected helipad area and said that a security complex will be build near Holy cave site soon. Later, a deputation of local people called on the DDC and projected their developmental demands. |
