Gurezi holds public darbar at Matrigam

SRINAGAR, June 6: Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr. Nazir Ahmad Gurezi today reiterated that Government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to provide all basic facilities to the people of all the three regions of the State especially adequate drinking water, education, power, health and road connectivity.
The Minister said this at a public darbar held at Matrigam in Bandipora district convened to solve the problems of Matrigam and its adjacent areas on the spot.
District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, Mr. M. Y. Zargar, former MLA Mr. Ghulam RasoolNaaz and district officers of civil administration besides sarpanchs, panchs and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Various issues related to PHE, Irrigation, Health, Power, Roads, Rural Development, Social Welfare, Education, Forest and other departments were discussed and the Minister gave on the spot directions to the concerned agencies for immediate redressal.
Responding to the demands of providing adequate drinking water facilities in Matrigam and its adjacent areas, the Minister said that the construction work on Water Supply Scheme Matrigam at an estimated cost of Rs 4.69 crore has been started and hoped that the scheme will complete in June 2014. He said on completion of this scheme and it will minimize the required drinking water facility in Pazalpora, Darmahama, Gunzbal and other adjacent areas of Matrigam.
The Minister also directed the concerned PHE authorities to ensure adequate drinking water facilities to these areas. The Minister was informed that the provision of funds has been kept for improvement of MandirNallah under Relief and Rehabilitation Plan.
Issuance of job cards and allotment of works were also projected and the Minister directed the Rural Development Department to work with utmost dedication and honestly and ensure utilization of funds released under MGNREGA in full.
Projecting the demand of replacement of damaged poles, transformers and installation of new transformers, Mr. Gurezi directed the concerned to install 4 transformers in adjacent areas of Matrigam villages. He also directed the DDC Bandipora to constitute a committee, who will submit their report about the progress of works taken under RGGVY and submit the same to the concerned quarter for perusal.
Taking review of overall health facilities in these areas, the Minister announced ambulance for medical sub-centre Bankote. Representatives also projected early upgradation of dilapidated condition of link roads of these areas.
The Minister directed the R&B department to ensure the renovation works of all link roads of these areas. He also asked them to macadamize Tanghatroad by July end.
