Shabir reviews healthcare arrangements for Amarnathji Yatra

JAMMU, June 10 : Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmed Khan, today reviewed healthcare arrangements for ensuing Amarnathji Yatra with the officers of Health department and directed the concerned to ensure all the arrangements are made well in time to facilitate the pilgrims The Minister took a comprehensive review of the status of drugs and supplies, deployment of staff and the contingency plan for providing medical facilities to the yatries. He was apprised that the medical units will be made functional at the base camp at Bhagwati Nagar, Ram Mandir Purani Mandi, Vaishno Dham and other important venues besides a well equipped mobile team will also be accompanying the Yatra upto Banihal. He also reviewed the steps taken by the department for issuance of health certificates to the yatries. The Minister also had a detailed review of the performance of various units like ultrasound, X-ray, surgeries and other diagnostic facilities in OPD and IPD. He asked the concerned to ensure that the peripheral health units provide adequate facilities and the referral cases are reduced considerably. He discussed several measures for further streamlining the functioning of the department and improving the delivery mechanism at the grassroots level.
Reviewing performance under NRHM, the Minister said that the mission has greatly helped to extend healthcare services in rural and far off areas. He stressed on improving the institutional deliveries and generating awareness about various benefits of such schemes.
While assessing the ongoing works being executed to improve health care infrastructure across the division, the Minister asked the concerned executing agencies to ensure that the projects are completed within stipulated time frame. He said developing health infrastructure has been given due importance and it is imperative that these projects are completed in time with judicious use of resources.
Among others present were Commissioner Secretary Health, Shaleen Kabra, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. B.D.Sharma, Director NRHM, Yash Pal Sharma, CMO’s, BMO’s and other senior officers.
