| Jora lays foundation stone of Gulposh Apartments at Bemina | | Complementing SDA for launching a new ambitious project | | SRINAGAR: As a continuous effort of the Government to overcome the burning problem of accommodating for the houseless people especially in the urban area, the Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora on Monday laid foundation stone of Gulposh Apartments at Bemina coming at a cost ofRs.20 crore. MLA, Batmaloo, Mr. Mohammad Irfan Shah, Commissioner-Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Jeet Lal Gupta, Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Mr. Mohammad Shafi Rather were present on the occasion. The Minister was told that in the first phase around three apartment blocks comprising 60 flats would be constructed and the project would be completed in three years. He was further informed that all the three blocks, will be earthquake resistant super-structure and also have elevator facilities , round-the-clock DG back-up and parking facility. He was also told that in the second Phase, SDA would be constructing around 550 more flats at Mini Housing colony(opposite Hajj House) Bemina. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Jora complimenting Srinagar Development Authority for launching a new ambitious project by construction of new flats in Srinagar at a large scale. He further said that the move would go a long way not only solving the burning housing problem facing by the urban population. The Minister assured full support to the department in setting- off other innovative projects in both housing and commercial sectors in Srinagar and stressed for planned development. He also said the SDA is also planning to develop an integrated housing/commercial centre near Railhead Nowgam for which around 1500 kanals of land have already been notified by the Government Responding the demands of the employees with regard holding early DPC, providing jobs under SRO 43 etc, the Minister issued directions to Vice Chairman to give due consideration on the demands of the employees, so that they may work with more dedication and honestly. Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Mr. Mohammad Shafi Rather said that his department not only has embarked on the ambitious project of institutionalizing concept of flatted accommodation in Srinagar in view of not only the mounting land costs in the city, but also to prevent wanton misuse of agriculture land that is squeezing fast day by day in and around the city. |
