Vikar hails centre for launch UMEED in state

BANIHAL: The Minister of State for Technical Education, power, and Information Mr. Vikar Rasool Wani toady conducted a day long extensive tour of Doligam Hinjhal area in Tehsil Banihal of District Ramban and addressed a series of public meetings.
Earlier, Minister laid the foundation stone of newly upgraded High School Hinjhal of an estimated cost of Rs. 49 Lakh. He also inaugurated Thandishah foot bridge constructed by the PWD Department at a cost of Rs. 44 Lakh.
While addressing the mammoth gathering at Hinjhal Mr. Vikar said that both centre and state governments are working together to empower the people at grass root level by establishing Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state. He said Central government has already launched various flagship schemes which include SSA, Mid Day Meal, MG NAREGA, IAY, NRHM. He said various welfare schemes have also been launched for the socially and financially weaker sections of the society.
The Minister hailed the initiative for jointly launching the UMEED programme in Jammu and Kashmir State by the Vice-President of Congress, Rahul Gandhi and Union Minister for Panchyat Raj Jai Ram Romesh from which 90 lakh women of weaker sections of the society would be empowered. He said that union government has sanctioned Rs. 755 crore under UMEED programme to organize self-help groups of women for addressing their economic challenges and contributing in curbing the social evils.
Mr. Vikar informed that the each Panchayat would be provided financial assistance of Rs. 10 Lakh to meet out the developmental needs during current financial year. He said that the Central Government would also provide added financial assistance for construction of dwelling units under IAY Scheme keeping in view earth quake and other climatic conditions in the State.
The Minister announced Rs. 3 lakh for development of playground and water tank for Hanjhal. He said that besides launching of more Water Supply Schemes, more transformer would also be installed for improving the water and power supply in the area. He said a Veterinary Aid Centre would also be established in the area for the facilities of the people of the area, adding that the work on local Dakbangalow will also be completed by the current uyear.
Responding to the demands projected by the people of Hinjhal, Doligam, Fagoo Jabdi and Thandishah including water tank for Hinjhal Health Centers, water supply schemes, irrigation canals, plying of SRTC buses in area, black toping of Banihal-Hinjhal road, development of Thandishah as a Tourist spot, play grounds, bridge for Jabdi, veterinary centre, electrification of uncovered area, Hinjhal to Famar Nallah road, Hand pumps and up-gradation of school and Health institutions, the Minister assured that their genuine demands would be looked into and addressed adequately.
