SRINAGAR, June 17: Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone today inaugurated 5-Day Sensitivity, Awareness and Motivation (SAM) workshop on capacity building of women managers in higher education. The seminar has been organised by Women’s Studies Centre at Government College of Education, M A Road under the aegis of University Grants Commission, New Delhi. Member, National Commission for Women, Mrs. Shamina Shafi, Chairperson of High Level Committee on the Status of Women, Prof Pam Rajput, Director WSC, Jammu University, Prof. Poonam Dhawan, Regional Coordinator North West, Prof. Nelofer Khan were present on the occasion. Principal Government College of Education and Director WSC Prof Parveen Pandit, participants from North West States, staff and large number of students of the college also participated in the workshop. Addressing the inaugural session, Mr. Lone said that women have proven their talent and aptitude in various decision making positions in the State and Union Governments that attests the capability and competence of women folk. The Minister hailed the initiative of the University Grants Commission for holding such training events which makes women participants sensitive and develops an understanding about women’s studies perspectives, need and importance besides making the participants to know and get awareness about organisation management and academic leadership. |
