| Rs. 13800 realized from erring handicrafts dealers | | | SRINAGAR: The Enforcement Wing of Quality Control Division of Handicrafts department with the Assistant Director Tourism, Gulmarg and S.H.O Tourism Enforcement conducted surprise inspection of handicrafts dealers from Narbal to Tangmarg tourist area here today. The dealers found selling fake items in the name of Kashmir handicrafts and without having a valid registration certificates were penalized and an amount of Rs. 7,800/- have been realized as fine on account of violation of Tourist Trade Act, 1978. The Enforcement Wing also conducted inspection of handicrafts dealers at International Airport Srinagar. The dealers found violating the norms of Tourist Trade Act were penalized on the spot. An amount of Rs. 6,000/- was realized as fine from the erring dealers. All the handicrafts dealers and hawkers are hence forth warned to desist from selling fake machine made items in the name of Kashmir art and get their business establishments registered under Tourist Trade Act, 1978 with the department. They dealers are also advised to affix tags depicting price, make and other specifications on the goods displayed for sale and also issue cash memos to the customers. Action as warranted under the law shall be initiated against the erring dealers. |
