DDC chairs DLRC meet, reviews banks’ performance

DODA: District Development Commissioner, Doda, Mubarak Singh, on Wednesday chaired a meeting of District Level Review Committee (DLRC), District Consultative Committee to review the performance of banks in the district for the quarter ended March 2013.
ADDC, G.N Balwan, CPO, Yasir Balwan, Assistant Commissioner Development, Rakesh Kumar, General Manager, DIC Doda, Dilmir, Dy. Director Employment, Shahida Parveen, Project Officer, DRDA, Dr. Tahir Firdous, RBI-LDO, R.L. Kotar, DDM, NABARD, Rajesh Badyal, Director RSETI, Lekh Raj besides other concerned officers were also present in the meeting.
Threadbare discussion was held on various issues which included performance of banks under annual credit plan, flow of credit to priority sectors and weaker sections of the society, grant of educational loans, RC filed cases besides various other issues were also discussed in the meeting.
The LDM apprised that the deposits and advances of all commercial banks as on 31-3-2013 stood at Rs.1092.61 crore and Rs. 218.68 crore respectively thus achieving CD ratio of 20% with overall achievement of 93% of ACP for the year 2013-14.
The Chairman expressed concern over slow progress of banks in achieving 100% financial inclusion. He directed all the banks to adopt a effective mechanism so that their services are expanded to far flung villages which are mostly unbanked. He further said that the financial inclusion is a process of ensuring access to financial services and timely and adequate credit where needed by vulnerable groups such as weaker sections, rural women and lower income groups at an affordable cost.
The meeting had a thread bare review of various schemes with focus on SGSY, PMEGP, SISRY, JKSES, MSE, SHGs, DIR, KCC, DEDS, etc.
The DDC exhorted the officers and banks for coordinated efforts so that people can avail the benefits of various benefit and welfare schemes in a hassle free manner. Reviewing performance under Kissan Credit Card scheme, the DDC directed the concerned officers to monitor the progress after every 15 days so that 100% KCCs are distributed among the farmers.While discussing SGSY scheme, the DDC enquired about activities being carried out by various Self Help Groups in the district and directed PO DRDA to motivate people to start activities which are viable and sustainable in the district. It was also revealed in the meeting that under the aegis of RBI Project titled “Project Financial Literacy”, financial literacy and credit counselling centres have been opened at Doda which besides other things would disseminate information regarding the central bank and general banking concepts to various target groups such as school and college going children, women, rural and urban poor, and senior citizens.
