MARH: Department of Agriculture organised a Training cum Demonstration of Power Operated Paddy Transplanter in the field for the first time in, Sub-Division Marh at village Halqa Marh. Chief Agriculture officer Jammu Jatinder Sharma, while interacting with the farmers on the occasion, highlighted the urgent need of the Paddy Transplanters in view of scarcity of labour at the time of transplanting. He further said that mechanized transplanting has great potential in increasing the yield by maintaining the right spacing, proper depth and number of seedlings per hill. District Agriculture Officer, Jammu, Mr Vinod Ganjoo informed the farmers that Rice yield can be increased upto 10% as compared to conventional techniques and there is 62-65% labour saving by this method. He said that the about 4 acres of area per day can be transplanted using Mechanised Transplanters.Earlier, Vinay Kumar Bhola, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, Marh, discussed the MAT Nursery raising techniques and demonstrated its loading on the Self Propelled Rice Transplanter. Mr J. C. Raina, AEO, Mishriwala, emphasized the need to adopt the transplanters on custom-hire basis thus ensuring timely transplanting of seedling at optimal age of 20 days. Mr Rajesh Gandotra, R. C. Sharma, Opinder Koul, Mohan Singh, Nirmal Parkash, Anju Shalla, Devki Nandan all JAEOS of Mishriwala & Marh zones were present on this occasion. Sh Ajaz Kohli, AEO, Marh thanked all the officers and the farmers for participating in the demonstration. Many progressive farmers and panchayat members of the area participated in this training-cum- demonstration programme prominently among them were Lala Devi Dass, Raj Dev Singh, Janak Singh, Jagdish Raj, Mangal Dass, Romesh Singh, Darshan Lal and Rakesh Kumar. |
