| Sham reviews yatra arrangements at Pahalgam, Chandanwari | | | PAHALGAM: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma today reviewed the arrangements for ensuing Shri Amarnathji yatra at base camp Nunwan Pahalgam and Chand-anwari. He convened a meeting of officers of various line departments at Pahalgam and took detailed appraisal of things put in place for the smooth conduct of this annual event. MLA Pahalgam, Rafi Ahmed Mir, Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Lone, SSP, Anantnag, Mr. R.K.Jalla, Chief Engineer, PHE, Kashmir, Mr. A.M. Lanker, Camp Officer, Mr. Ashok Sharma and officers of all line departments were present in the meeting. Expressing satisfaction about the steps initiated by the administration for the yatra, the Minister stressed the need for close coordination between various agencies for achieving better results. He impressed upon all the concerned departments to understand their role and make best possible efforts to make the yatra success. He directed the concerned to follow the advisory issued by Shri Amarnathji Board strictly to avoid any kind of mishap during the yatra period. While reviewing the medical facilities at Pahalgam and Chand-anwari, the Minister directed the Chief Medical Officer, Anantnag to make adequate stock of essential drugs and portable oxygen cylinders at the main camps and entire stretch of yatra route for the facilities of pilgrims. He said health department has significant role during the entire yatra and they must put in place best infrastructure to respond to the emergent situation. He also enquired about the essential supplies including ration, kerosene oil, fire wood and LPG etc at different locations and directed the concerned officers to monitor the situation on day-to-day basis as per the contingent plans drawn. The Minister also directed the district administration to ensure regular electricity supply with back up arrangements through generators, emergency lights at different locations. He also laid stress on proper sanitation in and around the base camps. He directed the PHE department to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water in the camps and also a provision of tanker service to meet the emergencies. The Minister also visited to Cha-ndanwari and inspected the medical camps set up by the State Government and para-military forces. He also inspected the langers and interacted with the voluntary service providers and asked them to strictly follow the food meno for serving the yatries. While interacting with the doctors and para-medics, the Minister urged them to work with extra zeal and dedication and provide best possible medicare to the pilgrims. He said Government has already announced several sops for all those doctors, para-medics who serve during the yatra on the entire track. The Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Lone who is also yatra officer briefed the Minister about the preparations made by the administration for the smooth conduct of yatra. He said that all the departments have deployed their men and material well in advance as per the well devised strategy after series of deliberations with the higher authorities. He assured the Minister full cooperation from the administration to make the yatra a success. He apprised that administration has taken all preventive measures to save the precious lives on the experience of last year’s event. |
