| Sagar asks youth to serve humanity through gaining Knowledge | | | SRINAGAR: The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar has said that the youth of the State should understand the true spirit of Islam and contribute in propagating its message of gaining quality knowledge for improving the lot of human existence.
The Minister was speaking at a two day National Seminar on “Muslim Response to Modern Education: Approaches and Prospects” organized by the department of Islamic Studies, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora. VC IUST, Prof A. R. Trag, Commissioner Secretary Agriculture, Dr. Asgar Samoon and various other academicians and scholars were also present.
Mr. Sagar said that the State Government has tried to provide every opportunity to Muslim youth to excel in different fields. He said that we have a good lot of bio-technologists, scientists, engineers; CEOs and IT sector professionals who have exceled in their respective fields and are also practising Muslims.
Complementing the University for holding such types of seminars, the Minister said that we have to use various institutions of learning for propagating the message that Islam and other branches of knowledge are two faces of the same coin and balanced approach can help us to develop in every field for the benefit of humanity that Islam lays so much emphasis on.
Referring to the advent of Islam in the Valley, the Minister said that it was due to the efforts of Sufis who through knowledge and love were responsible for propagating Islam. He said Islam preaches tolerance and mutual coexistence and gaining knowledge is
one of the important parameters of it.
Prof Trag while speaking on the occasion gave a brief overview about the University and the contribution of Muslims in various fields especially education.
Dr. Samoon also spoke and gave an account of historic uniqueness of Kashmiri Culture, advent Islam in this part of the world and general overview about Islamic thought. |
