| Shabir inaugurates Medical Aid Centre at Peer Ki Gali | | | SHOPIAN: The Minister of State for Health, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan today inaugurated Medical Aid Centre at Peer-Ki-Gali. The Medical Aid Centre will cater to Pilgrim tourists at Peer Ki Gali Shrine, besides providing Health Care facilities to Nomadic population and locals of vicinity areas of the Ziarat Sharief. The Medical Aid Centre was temporarily housed in tent accommodation with all requisite medical facilities. One Ambulance would also remain stationed at the Centre to tackle any emergency. The Health Minister instructed the concerned authorities for construction of pre-fabricated huts for permanent housing of the health Centre. District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Chief Medical Officers, Shopian and Poonch besides senior officers of Health department were present on the occasion. The Health Minister said that providing health care facilities in remote and hilly terrain areas was priority of the government. He said government is also considering to up-grade all Health Care facilities at known pilgrimage sites for convenience of the pilgrims. He said the inflow of pilgrims increased at the shrine due to opening of the historical Mughal road adding that the Health center at the shrine was needed for taking health related care of the people. The Health Minister said that government was endeavoring to explore the vast tourism potential of the historical Mughal road and for the purpose several infrastructural projects are already under way with focused attention to promote eco-tourism in the area. The Minister said in future tourism would become backbone of the local economy and called upon them to join this trade and set up ventures and convert a portion of their houses as guest rooms and lodges. He said for the purpose government will be facilitating them with incentives and soft loans. |
