| UDHAMPUR : The work on 47 road projects, taken up under Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna ( PMGSY) Stage-I, has been completed in Udhampur district connecting 155 habitations, while more 81 roads are likely to be completed in the district this year. Costing Rs. 212.19 crores, the completed projects have added 611 Km road benefitting a large number of population living in far flung areas of the district. The information was given at a meeting convened by the Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal, to review the pace of progress on the under construction PMGSY roads in the district. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Surat Singh, Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, Superintending Engineer Udhampur-Reasi Circle PMGSY, Ram Murti Gupta, Deputy Director Planning, Ashok Sharma, Divisional Forest Officer Udhampur, Executive Engineers of PMGSY Ramnagar, Udhampur and Reasi were present in the meeting. During the meeting, the DDC reviewed in detail the status and pace of progress on each road. The meeting also discussed the land acquisition and disbursement of compensation to the owners, and clearance of damage claim cases, besides maintenance completed PMGSY roads. The meeting also stressed on evolving an effective monitoring system for the ongoing road project works. The DDC asked the engineers to accelerate the construction work so that the targets fixed for the current year could be achieved in a stipulated time frame. She also asked the engineers to submit month wise statement of disposal of land and other damage claim cases to her office. Earlier, the Superintendent Engineer Udhampur –Reasi Circle gave a detailed resume of the status of work on each road and said that out of 127 sanctioned schemes under different phases of PMGSY, 47 schemes under Stage-I costing Rs. 212.19 Crores, have been completed in the district . |
