Several deputations call on Sadhotra

JAMMU : Several deputations today met Minister for Planning & Development, Labour & Employment, Ajay Sadhotra here today at Summer Secretariat and projected their demands and problems.
The Deputationists from different parts of the Jammu region met the Minister and sought improvement in power supply scenario, adequate water supply, up-gradation of transformers, repair of lanes and drains, better civic amenities. They also demanded repair of parks and ponds, up-gradation of schools, renovation of link and main roads of their respective areas. Two deputations including one led by Sarpanch Naresh from Suchetgarh demanded better irrigation facilities in their respective areas.
Mr. Ajay Sadhotra gave a patient hearing and said that the government was committed to redress the problems of every section of the society particularly with regard to the provision of essential services and basic amenities. The Minister said that focus was being laid on the equitable development of all the three regions of the state with emphasis on sorting out genuine problems of the people. He said various flagship programmes have been launched under health, education, rural development to improve the living standard of the people, especially the weaker sections of the society. Sadhotra underscored the need for greater coordination among the government functionaries, MLAs, Panchayat representatives and the common masses to obtain optimum results of welfare and development programmes aimed at socio economic emancipation of people of the state. He asked the officers to consult all segments of the society especially panchayat members while formulating development project proposals adding that the elected representatives are closer to the public and can give constructive inputs on field requirements of the area. The Minister assured the deputations and individuals that all their demands would be met in a phased manner. He also directed the concerned officers to take up necessary steps to sort out the public issues.
