| GOC White Knight Corps flags in educational tour | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 31: It was a momentous day in the lives of 26 young minds belonging to Gujjar and Bakkarwal community, who just returned from nine days trip to Mumbai and Pune organised by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo). The tour was flagged in at Nagrota by GOC, White Knight Corps Lt Gen DS Hooda on Wednesday. The students were thrilled by their visit to the financial capital of the country, where they also got a glimpse of Bollywood. The tour was organised to inspire children to join the national effort and contribute towards peace and prosperity in the area. The participants for the tour were selected from the remote and backward areas in Poonch district. The tour provided them a unique opportunity to visit places of historical significance in Mumbai and Pune as also see the developments taking place in the rest of the country. The children were awestruck by the pace of life in Mumbai, where they visited Haji Ali Dargah, Gateway of India and the Planetarium. Sightseeing on Juhu Beach, Marine Drive and Fashion Street gave them an insight into the bustling lifestyle of this metropolis. While at Pune, the children visited the Symbiosis College, National Defence Academy and Agriculture College. The children were happy to have availed of this opportunity and said that it was a unique experience for them, as most of them had never visited such places before. |
