| New Delhi wants JK land, not its people: Sartaj Madni | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KISHTWAR, July 31: Senior Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Deputy Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mohammad Sartaj Madni today slammed New Delhi for its failure in coming up to the expectations of people of Jammu and Kashmir. Sartaj Madni while addressing the party workers at Dak Bungalow Kishtwar on the eve of party's 14th foundation day function said that New Delhi is only interested in land of Jammu and Kashmir and it (New Delhi) did not require the people living in the state. He said that state of Jammu and Kashmir has suffered on account of bad policies of successive National Conference regime. He said that when the partition of India took place, Sheikh Abdullah was at the helm of affairs. He said that similarly when famous rigging of 1987 election, incidents like Shopian rape case, killing of 120 innocent youths, hanging of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru took place, Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah were at the helm of affairs in state of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that NC leadership not only sold the precious resources of state but also sold dignity of people of Jammu and Kashmir and added that same can be judged from the fact that despite passing the autonomy resolution in J&K Assembly by 2/3rd majority, center government put the said resolution in a dust bin even without reading it. He said that despite facing humiliation from BJP government in center over autonomy issue, both Dr. Farooq Abdullah and his minister son in Vajpayee government prefer to stick with their chairs. He said that NC leadership can sell anyone for remaining in power. He said that PDP under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Syed has emerged as a vibrant force in the state and added that PDP will emerge as victorious in upcoming assembly and parliamentary elections and will form a government on its own in state. In his address MLC Syed Asgar Ali cautioned the people about NC leadership plan to disrupt the peace and communal harmony of Kishtwar District. He said that few elements having the backing of NC leadership since last couple of months were trying to push Kishtwar District towards communal disharmony. He warned the administration about the nefarious design of those elements that are hell bent to create an atmosphere of communal disharmony in Kishtwar and urged the administration to deal with such persons with iron hands. |
