| BJP protests against in delay to conduct LB elections | | | EARLY TIMES Report
Kathua, July 31 : Miffed over delay on part of government to hold local body elections, activists of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) today staged protest demonstration at Mukharji Chowk.
Addressing the protesters BJP district president Advocate Vijay Sharma accused NC-Congress coalition for compelling people to face local problems viz-a-viz non availability of proper streets, lanes and drains, street lights and several others by not conducting the said elections.
He said that the recommendations of Panchayat Act 73rd and 74th had to be brought in the state to protect the rights of the people but state government in which Congress is the main player deliberately ignored the elections with a designed strategy of state government to appease their Kashmiri masters.
He said that the BJP would conduct its protest demonstration in favour Municipal and block Samiti elections which was the long pending genuine demand of the people of the state and for which the BJP will never quit.
In the protest Gopal Mahajan, Prof. Sain Dass, Amarnath, and several others were present. |
