The people are asked to send their suggestions with regard to creation of new administrative units within a period of 15 days to the official designated. The decision to constitute cabinet sub-committee was taken by the State Cabinet that met on July 24 at Srinagar. It was necessitated to take on-board fresh demands on this account. The sub-committee is headed by Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand whereas other members include Urban Development minister Nawang Rigzin Jora, Public Health Engineering minister Sham Lal Sharma, Agricultural minister Ghulam Hassan Mir, Higher Education minister Akbar Lone, Planning and Development minister Ajay Sadhotra and Parliamentary Affairs minister Mir Saifullah. Subsequently, CSC was constituted to examine the recommendations of the said Committee; Whereas, the demands for creation of new Administrative Units like Sub-divisions, Tehsils, C.D Blocks, Niabat and Patwar Halqas kept on pouring in from time to time. The report of the said Committee was inconclusive and as per the commitment made before the House (Legislative Assembly), the said Committee was further revived by Government. The revived Committee was re- named as 'Committee for Examination of Demands of New Administrative Units' and was headed by Mushtaq Ahmed Ganai. The said Committee had submitted its report to the Government in July 2011. |
