7/31/2013 11:59:59 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 31: Member Parliament Jammu Poonch Constituency Madan Lal Sharma said that Congress always acted as pioneer in raising and following issues of Refugees/ displaced persons.
He said this while addressing a huge public meeting at Seri Panditan in Raipur Domana Constituency after laying foundation stone of Community facilitation Centre which will be constructed under MPLAD scheme.
Referring to his speeches in Parliament, he said that almost in all his addresses he raised the issues of Refugees and demanded their one time settlement on the basis of which Home Ministry has taken it seriously and initiated the process for their settlement. He informed that he and delegation of Congress Ministers and leaders have also met with Home Minister, Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi separately to make them realize about the injustice done to the displaced persons of 1947, 65 and 71 and West Pak refugees. He said that Govt. of India is actively considering the settlement issue of refugees and have put their people on work. The recently conducted meeting of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs regarding issues of refugees which comprises MPs from all political parties is a step towards its resolution.
He maintained that there are certain issues which State Govt. resolve at their own like issuance of State subject to West Pak Refugees and allotment of land and others as per scale. He demanded Omar led Govt. should immediately order the same to give some relief to the refugees and recommend a detailed one time settlement proposal to Govt. of India and UPA Govt. will grant the same as Congress always advocated for settlement of affairs of refugees by restoring all their rights with dignity.
