| DYSS finalises calendar of activities | | |
Sports Reporter JAMMU, Mar 20: Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) today finalized the annual calendar of activities for the year 2014-15 in a high level meeting held under the chairmanship of Director General, Navin Agarwal at MA Stadium, here. Directions were issued to the officers at the divisional and district level to take appropriate measures so as to complete the activities in under-14 and under-17 year age groups by the end of August while the under-19 year events should finish by September. "The completion of the domestic activities in given time would help the department get required time for specialized coaching and training camps for the selected probable before their participation in the National School Games, organised by the National School Games Federation of India (NSGFI)," said the Director General. The Director General laid stress on taking the game of Archery to other districts in an attempt to make the event popular in the state. He asked the district officers to explore the possibilities to introduce the game. "Since the game of Archery is confined to twin districts of Leh and Kargil, efforts should be made to this discipline to every corner of the state," he maintained. Besides the sports activities, the department has decided to include other events of rallies, seminars, special camps, seerat conferences as part of the annual calendar. The meeting besides other officers was attended by senior officers, including Joint Director and Deputy Directors.
Khazan of IT wins CGEWCC Chess tourney
Sports Reporter JAMMU, Mar 20: Young Khazan Singh of Income Tax Department clinched the title trophy in the Chess Tournament, organised by the Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) at the office of National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO), here. Khazan won all his matches to secured first place. In the deciding fourth round, he defeated Raj Kumar of Customs and Excise. Shashi Jamwal of Survey of India (SOI) remained second beating Vishal Gupta of Customs and Excise. Similarly, Vijay Singh of Intelligence Bureau (IB) finished third. In the last round, Vijay defeated Sanjeev Sharma of Survey of India (SOI). Earlier, staffers of various Central Government Departments posted in Jammu took part in this two-day competition. Meanwhile, member of the organising committee, Ashok Chada said that the Carrom competition shall take place tomorrow at the office of the Central Water Commission (CWC) at 10 am.
IIIM lifts CGEWCC Volleyball trophy
Sports Reporter JAMMU, Mar 20: Indian Institute of Integrated Medicine (IIIM) lifted the Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) Volleyball tournament trophy outplaying Principal Accountant General (PAG) in the final at MA Stadium, here today. It was a straight but close sets win for IIIM beating PAG 25-18, 25-19 to emerge as new champion of the annual competition. Earlier, in the semifinal, PAG trounced Central Water Commission (CWC) 2-0 (25-23, 25-15). In other semifinal, IIIM registered a close win against Survey of India (SOI) making it 25-23, 25-22. Earlier, in a preliminary round match, CWC defeated National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) in easy straight sets of 25-05, 25-08. In all, five teams turned up for this day-long knock-out competition. Director CWC, Vivek Tripathi was among distinguished guests, who witnessed the final and other matches. Matches were officiated by Harcharan Singh, Shashi Jamwal and Des Kumar. Prominent among others present were Surinder Mohan, Sumit Chakoo, Sham Lal Smailpuria and Ashok Chada.

Nightingale Pre School celebrates Annual Day ET Report JAMMU, Mar 20: A cultural extravaganza was the highlight of the Nightingale Pre School Annual day at Police Auditorium in the city today. Various skits, welcome song programmes related to love the eternal bond were performed by children of age group 1 year to 5 years in this cultural event. The children through their dances songs and skits depicted the different shades of love, love with nature, animal, parents, friends were depicted in theirs performances. The excellent performance given by children left every one awestruck and emotional as they presented their unique abilities in front of enormous viewers the small children were seen performing confidently on the stage wearing vibrant impressive outfits making the viewers mesmerised . Speedball game introduced at refresher course Youth Hostel Nagrota
Sports Reporter JAMMU, Mar 20: Speedball game was being introduced at Youth Hostel Nagrota today. The refresher course is to train the physical education teachers and masters about the new games being working in Jammu and kashmir province. The camp as being started from 16th of March till 22nd march. The camp is simultaneously going on in the Govt .College of physical education , Ganderbal Kashmir and youth hostel Nagrota. the speedball team first trained the PET’S and P.E.M’S at Ganderbal and now the team after one day of travelling from Kashmir to Jammu now the trainers are now on their duty at youth hostel nagrota . the camp at youth hostel Nagrota consists of near 95 physical education teachers/masters from different districts from Jammu province. The teachers enjoyed the game and promised the trainers that they would practicise the game and flourish in each and every district. The trainers involved in training the physical education teachers and masters are Sunny Nanda, Sahil Janjua, Manika Sharma, Gurmanjeet Singh, Suryansh, Sakshi Vaid. |
