SSH doctors' neglect, apathy climaxes | Ailing toddler discharged forcibly | | Avinash Azad JAMMU, Mar 20: In an attempt to hide their inefficiency and professional incompetence to treat toddler diagnosed with tumor in one of his fingers, superintendent Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) in "shed responsibility and problems fixes itself" attitude put his life in danger by discharging him from the hospital. Following story of SSH administration's apathy published in Early Times, Karnail Singh father of the toddler (Sudesh Singh) said that the doctors forcibly discharged them from Hospital. "The doctors assured me that my child is under observation, as they injected him on March 6," said Karnail, adding that the next injection was to be given after 21 days i.e March 27, but they discharged him today. The doctors were not paying heed towards the pain which his five years old son was bearing for long time. "With help of some social activists, media highlighted callousness of doctors, following which they expelled us", he said, adding that being labour he was unable to get treatment for my child, with kind attention of an NGO he was very hopeful that his son would get treated. Commenting on the matter a senior doctor at GMCH wishing anonymity said that approach adopted by doctors was unprofessional. "Five years old Sudesh Singh who is suffering with tumor on figure and admitted at Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) Jammu, on March 5, was facing callousness of Hospital management, expelled from hospital for raising voice against non-seriousness of doctors towards patients", said Kuldeep Sharma, president Sneh Help Group, "This is not only a single case of doctor's callousness, a number of patients have been facing cruelty of doctors in Government hospital", he added. When contacted, Principal GMCH Jammu, Dr Shashi Gupta said that she is out of station. "I am out of station, so it would be difficult for me to react", she added. |
