| 2 arrested, stolen batteries recovered | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 20: With the arrest of two thieves, Police have claimed to have busted a battery lifting racket besides recovering five stolen batteries worth Rs 27 thousand in markets form Greater Kailash area of city outskirts. Police sources have identified the accused as Jawala Prasad s/o Mangat Lal r/o Punjab present at Ambika Nagar, Greater Kailash and Prabhat Sharma alias Chamkila s/o Ram Pal r/o Ambika Nagar, Greater Kailash. They said that the accused were running the racket for a very long time and were involved in selling stolen batteries in the market for their 'recycling'. "On specific information a team led by Inspector Jasbir Singh, SHO Gangyal and PSI Pawan Dogra, In-charge Police Post Greater Kailash under the overall supervision SP City South, Rahul Malik and with guidance of SDPO Gandhi Nagar, Harjeet Singh detained some suspects from the area, police sources said. They said, "During questioning of the suspects, the Jawala Prasad and Prabhat Sharma confessed their involvement in the crime." "Following on their disclosures, police team recovered 5 stolen batteries, worth Rs 27 thousand, they added. A case under FIR No 33/14 has been already registered in PP Greater Kailash in this regard. |
