| Much hyped alternative Mughal Road fails to serve its objective | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, May 9: The historic Mughal Road, which was constructed with an aim to have an alternative route to Srinagar from Jammu and vice versa, still fails to serve its objective as the blockades/landslides have left this alternative route to valley clogged for the usual traffic. The stretch of Mughal road in particular from Surankote to Shopian approximately 84 km is clogged at number of places giving tough times to concerned authorities to restore traffic. The driving on the road stretch from Surankote to Chatapani and Peer Ki Gali in Mansar area is just a bumpy ride to the drivers as the shooting stones/landslides along roadside is giving horrid experience to the first timers. Although, the JCB machines and human resources have been impressed into the service by the authorities yet the things remain as they were. Sources said that machinery impressed is not being provided the necessary fuel to go ahead on the road clearance. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch when contacted said that he is well aware about the pathetic condition of road and accordingly instructions have been passed to the subordinates to clear the road by May 15. |
