| Memo submitted to recourse drainage water from MG Marg | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 9: Residents of Village Rathian Udhampur (J&K) submitted representation memorandum to R.P Singh Project Director of AFCON Jammu Udhampur National Highway through Aman Kalsotra social activist and director Sky High India Social Organisation. In a memorandum residents of Rathian and Phangyal demanded the arrangement for free flow of drainage water & pipe bridge for pedestrian on Mahatma Gandhi Marg touching National Highway, Rathian and Fangyal area because the drainage water of whole area and National Highway is diverted openly that crossing over from Mahatma Gandhi Marg touches Delhi Public School. Speaking on the occasion residents of the area said that due to construction of new four-way National Highway the drain water of whole area diverted through drainage towards Mahatma Gandhi Marg openly which add the woes of the local residents of Rathain. They further said that Mahatma Gandhi Marg is the only single road for the residents of village Rathian to reach their destination from National Highway. Apart from this the residents of Ramnagar, Reasi, Chenani, Udhampur, Jammu and many other areas use this road as shortcut to reach their destination. The situation worsen specially in rainy days when in this road get water logged upto four feet approx and become a huge nuallah at Mahatma Gandhi Marg and become problem for all residents specially for women and children. In the end residents said that they repeatedly communicate their problems to all ends but without any result. They further said now the project is almost on its completion but concerned didn't given any heed towards their problems. They also threatened protest agitation if AFCON company didn't make arrangements for the smooth flow of this drain water and small walkover pipe bridge for the pedestrian on this road which is popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi Marg . |
