Kathua, May 9 : A team of the Legal Metrology Department (LMD) under the supervision of the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Ajay Verma and Comprising of the Inspector Legal Metrology Kathua and Dayala chack conducted intensive checking of various business establishment and realized a penalty upto Rs 20300/- from traders violating consumer's rights laws in its month long drive. During the surprise inspection, the enforcement team visited Ration dealers, flour Mills, Oil Dealer, Dispensing units, Gas Agencies Karayna shops and sweets shops at Main Bazar Kathua, Patel Nagar, Palli Morh, Parliwand Kathua, Chann Arrorian, Berruchack, Chadwal, Dayalachack and its adjoining areas and Inspected the commercial establishments. "A total of 7 traders were booked for violation of various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act 1997and Package Commodities Rules and a penalty of Rs 20300 was imposed on the erring traders during the current month, . Besides this, Department directed all the traders to use only verified Weights and Measures for Business transactions and display MRP, PKD, Net Contents and complete address and Consumer care Number on the Commodities to be sold in package Form. The Department has also warned the erring traders to desist away from using unfair trade practices and also appealed to the Consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing the Commodities. |
