| Intelligence agencies asked to coordinate with security agencies to check violence | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 9 : Security forces and intelligence agencies have been asked to extend coordination in order to keep an eye on trouble mongers in the Kashmir. This instruction has gone after militants have killed one Panch in south Kashmir and a number of innocent civilians, belonging to Kupwara and Baramulla, were teased and tormented by those who had campaigned in favour of poll boycott. Security forces, deployed within the valley, have been told to intensify their operations against militants and all those who were trying to punish those who had taken an active part in campaigning against separatists' call for poll boycott. Official sources today said that field reports have indicated that separatists and militants feel enraged by the way more people voted in the three constituencies, especially in Baramulla constituency. Against the polling percentage recorded in 2009 the 2014 Lok Sabha poll witnessed 11.5 more polling. Hence the security forces have been asked to remain on high alert. A day after the final phase of polling for the Lok Sabha election in Jammu and Kashmir, a suspected militant on Thursday shot dead a panchayat member of the ruling National Conference even as the votaries of the poll boycott in the Sopore area unleashed terror on commuters from segments in Kupwara and Baramulla districts, which recorded a high voter turnout. Official sources said that intelligence agencies have been asked to share with the security forces any input they receive about the plans and movement of militants and other trouble mongers. And the senior functionaries of police and paramilitary forces have been directed to act upon those inputs from intelligence agencies promptly. |
