| Kishtwar people flay lack of infrastructure in schools | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, May 31: The students and parents of Inderwal schools of Kishtwar are up in arms against the education department for its failure to address shortage of staff and infrastructure in schools of rural areas of the district including Inderwal Zone. According to reports over 300 students along with their parents held a strong protest at Mughalmaidan and blocked the Kishtwar-Chatroo-Srinagar National Highway for hours together highlighting their genuine demands which include the addressing of shortage of staff in the schools, beside infrastructure in schools including libraries & laboratory. They allege that some blue eyed teachers have been attached near to thier homes without providing any alternative at their original place of posting.The agitating students said that the education of school children's is suffering badly due to non availability of teachers in their schools. They urged upon the authorities to kindly fullfil thier demamds with immediate effect. A student from Government High School Drubeel informed the "Early Times" that the school has the strength of more than 300 students with only three teaching staff members. Another student said that same is the case with Government Middle School Dikra which has 200 students with only 3 staff members. They said that one teacher of GMS Dekra namely Sayeed Mohsin has been attached near to his home without providing any alternate and demanded his immediate detachment. Many students and parents also complaint about absenteeism culture in the schools of Rural areas of the District including Inderwal education zone. |
