| Three killed, one injured in separate road mishaps | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 31: Three persons were killed while another received injuries in separate road mishaps at different places. Police sources said that two youth were killed when the bike they were riding on was hit by an unidentified vehicle at around 1.50 am near Hotel Asia. The deceased have been identified as Sourab Bali and Aman Bali, both residents of Gandhi Nagar, police said. Police said that after getting the information police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the mortuary of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC &H). Today after legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to family members for last rites. A case in this connection has been registered and further investigation is on. Meanwhile, in another road mishap one person was killed and another sustained severe injuries when an army truck rammed into a motorcycle (JK02AP-217) outside the entrance gate of 92 Inf Brigade, Bari Brahmana. The identity of the deceased was ascertained as Pawan Kumar (40) son of Puran Chand resident of Chak Islam, RS Pura, whereas, the injured has been identified as Pawan Kumar son of Rattan Lal resident of Kollein in RS Pura. "The duo were returning back to village Maheen Sarkar after attending the cremation of their relative, scores of people including locals rushed to the spot and protested outside the army gate demanding immediate arrest of the erring driver as after hitting the bike, the driver of army truck managed to flee alongwith the vehicle," police said. SDPO Bari Brahmana, Shahzad Salaria alongwith SHO Bari Brahmana Shiv Dev Singh rushed to the spot immediately and ensured the seizure of army truck and arrest of erring driver. The locals later lifted the dharna. The body was shifted to mortuary of GMC&H for autopsy and other legal formalities, whereas, the injured too has been shifted to GMC for treatment. Meanwhile Police said that it has arrested driver identified as NK- Ram Inder Singh of 15 Raj Rifles and a case under FIR No-70 under sections 279 and 304-A has been registered by the police in this regard. |
