| Budhi locals decry shortage of water, lock PHE Pumping station | | |  Early Times Report
Kathua, June 17: Irked over irregular supply of drinking water, the local from SC Basti of Budhi in Kathua district today staged a protest against PHE Department and blocked Link road besides locking PHE's Pump Station to lodge their protest.
Protestors alleged that some corrupt elements in PHE department are procuring water to only influential only and demanded early action against such employees who are selling the water on payment. They said that the SC Basti of Budhi is ignored of giving water facility by the PHE, while other population of some particular upper castes are being supplied water regularly.
NaibSarpanch Devi Lal who led the protest said the SC population of the Budhi is being left at the hands of exploiters who force the SC families to have the deprivation of water and any other facilities. The protestors also urged the PHE Minister to take action against the erring officials.
Later the administration along with police intervened into the protest and after motivating the protestors with an assurance to solve the issue of water problem, the blocking was lifted.
Meanwhile speaking to media XEN PHE ChMohdTaj said employees posted at Budhi Pump Station are allegedly responsible for forcing the area without water and a departmental action will be taken soon. |
