Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 17: Weather turned pleasent after scorching heat for about three weeks in the Kashmir valley, though the minimum temperature was still above normal. A Met department spokesman said here today light to moderate rain or thundershowers would occur at few places in the Jammu and Kashmir in the next 24 hours. However, the weather will remain dry in Ladakh region, he said. Spokesman said there could be isolated to scattered rain or thundershowers in the state during the subsequent four days. After witnessing four degree above normal minimum temperature, people woke up to a cloudy morning in the Kashmir valley, including summer capital, Srinagar. Light rain accompanied by cold winds bring much needed relief to after about three weeks scorching heat due to four to five degree above normal maximum and minimum temperature. Though sun was making appearance from behind the clouds, the weather remained pleasent because of cold winds. Tourist resorts of Pahalgam, Deksum, Ahrabal, Yusmarg, Gulmarg and Yusmarg received light to moderate rains, making the weather more pleasant, much to the delight of tourists who had come from different parts of the country, where the temperature was more than 40 degrees. |
